Mobileye to Acquire Mentee Robotics in $900M Deal

Mobileye is set to acquire AI startup Mentee Robotics, in a deal valued at $900 million.

Announced Tuesday at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the acquisition will combine Mobileye’s self-driving AI and sensing technology with Mentee’s humanoid robotics platform to create robots with greater physical AI, meaning enhanced awareness and human interaction capabilities.

The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2026, pending regulatory approvals and closing conditions. Mentee will operate as an independent unit within Mobileye, the companies stated.

If completed, the acquisition would represent one of the largest deals to date linking autonomous driving technology with humanoid robotics.

Mobileye said in a press release that the industries face similar challenges in safe operation across human-oriented environments as well as meeting stringent performance and safety requirements at scale.

Both rely on a shared physical AI stack encompassing multimodal perception, world modeling, intent-aware planning and decision-making under uncertainty, the company said.

To help bridge the gaps, Mobileye will bring its autonomy stack to the deal. The technology pipeline includes goal-based navigation and context-aware reasoning, which the company said serves as a foundation for general-purpose robots operating safely alongside humans.

Mentee will provide its humanoid robotics platform, designed for scalable deployment in real-world scenarios.

The platform focuses on simulation-first training, few-shot learning and what the company refers to as “human-to-robot mentoring,” allowing robots to acquire new skills from limited demonstrations rather than relying on large-scale, real-world data collection or continuous teleoperation.

This approach is intended to support more predictable and safer human-robot interactions and enable faster deployment of humanoids across a range of applications.

The deal is anticipated to accelerate Mentee’s go-to-market strategy, with proof-of-concept deployments of its AI-powered humanoids expected this year and commercialization targeted for 2028.

“By combining Mentee’s breakthroughs in humanoid robotics with Mobileye’s expertise in automotive autonomy, and its proven ability to productize advanced AI, we have a unique opportunity to lead the evolution of physical AI across robotics and autonomous vehicles on a global scale,” Prof. Amnon Shashua, Mobileye’s CEO, said in the press release.
